I appreciate all your opinions and completely understand your feelings
about the family issue, as I have founded a lineage myself.
Unfortunately, I have only been able to watch from the sideline for
the past 2 years, as I was killed off 3 games in for OOC reasons, and
I continue to mentor the line as best I can.

Regardless, I have been without a character since January and have
been without inspiration for some time. I have never been part of a
bloodline before, so I began pouring through the books and came upon a
bloodline whose personal style interested me. This was the
Sangiovanni. I liked the loyalty to family, clan, and covenant. The
hitch however, is that I didn't wish to be identified and stereotyped
by my local players as a Sangiovanni, particularly given the supposed
canon responses of other Kindred ostracizing the bloodline. As well as
the typical Camarilla responses of "Hey, we can use your ghouls for
part (a) of the plan, and my wonky powers for part (b).", or "If
you're a San Giovanni, aren't you supposed to be like this...", or
portraying my character to others as some over-sexed necrophile
without the possibility of simply having an obsessive fascination with
death and corpses.

My original idea was to be a part of the mortal family who was
embraced by the family, but reading the Haven section of the bloodline
write-up on pg. 68 of Bloodlines: The Chosen, I didn't want to be a
pure Italian from Venice. So I looked at the section that says,
"Anyone who bears both the Sangiovanni blood and name is welcome
there, but the family is infamous for turning away or simply
destroying 'double bloods' -- members of the bloodline who are not
verifiable members of the family -- who show up on their doorstep."
That looked like a viable option that would still allow me to create a
character concept I was interested in playing. The write-up also talks
about American Sangiovanni on page 67, thus I also saw that as an
option. To try and solve issues with metagaming or stereotyping, and
possibly the 'double blood' concept I simply wished to assume a second
identity in public. Though I could still be a faithful Sangiovanni,
who supports the family above all else.

The other issue I still have however, is that I don't go to open IRC
games and I don't really do private IRC scenes frequently. I didn't
want to make others feel like I was trying to become a Sangiovanni
just for the Cattiveria discipline, and I don't appreciate the mass
reprimand. If anyone is still willing to talk to me (constructively)
about creating a Sangiovanni, I'm still interested, whether it's in
family or avusing for whatever reason.
