>The hitch however, is that I didn't wish to be identified and stereotyped
by my local players as a Sangiovanni, particularly given the supposed canon

typical Camarilla responses of "Hey, we can use your ghouls for part (a) of
the plan, and my wonky powers >for part (b).", or "If you're a San Giovanni,
aren't you supposed to be like this...", or portraying my character to

If the players are giving you grief out of character for your decision to
play a certain concept then bring that up with your coordinator. ICly, most
Kindred can only really claim to know the "*Venetian necromancers who
maintain a tight family structure that Embraces exclusively from its own
mortal stock.*" line from the TT book. It doesn't mention anything about
incest or necrophilia in there. If they are Mekhet then they can know more
about the bloodline but not exclusive details unless they have a specialty.
I am rather hardcore when it comes to people bleeding the line about IC/OOC
knowledge. Thankfully most everyone in the NE region has been awesome and
not assumed things about Pietro (since he is the one who uses the name). I
would also like to point out that necromancy, by definition, has nothing to
do whatsoever with zombies. I think the necromancer = zombies thing is a
total Cam association.

That is what several players are doing. I know of (I think) 5 characters
who go by different names in public to hide their identity yet are known to
the family as who they actually are.

The other issue I still have however, is that I don't go to open IRC games

Your original idea: *"I'm interested in playing a 350+ year old San Giovanni
that doesn't openly associate with the family, but still supports them." *Is
one that could totally work. Like I said there are several people who are
not publicly Sangiovanni but are still very active with the family.

Your second idea: *"I'd like to play a 'double blood.'"* As you pointed out
the book says that the family is infamous for killing those who are
'double-blood'. You like the loyalty to the family that the Sangiovani are
suppose to have so how does being avused get you that?

We currently have a lot of people in the 350+ age bracket. That pretty much
covers the oldest three generations of the family. Besides being one of the
oldest family members is there anything else to the character? Are there
certain things you are looking for in your mortal family or your Sire? What
sort of childhood did you want your character to have? What sort of
interests would the character have? Would he be an accomplished necromancer
or would he be alright at it but he has other skills that were the reason he
was Embraced? What covenant are you interested in playing? If not the LS
(which is the default covenant for the family) why did you choose that
covenant? Do you want your character to have spent any time as a ghoul?
Why does the character choose not to publicly associate with the family?

The bloodline has only been in play for a year now so we are still a small
player base. In that year we have had some problems with lost family
members and avused characters. I think most of us would like to see new
players be more in line with the rest of the family so that perhaps at a
future ICC we can all roll in like 30 PCs strong and totally impress the
whole dang club with how cool and organized we are. I want us to go to the
Mekhet meeting and totally show off to the Houses about how awesome we are
and how they wish they had invited us to play in their little system.
