I have only used gcc on Windows using either  CygWin or MinGW if there
is any other options I will be happy to investigate them. I have not
yet tried programming drivers using Visual Studio Express
(http://lab.msdn.microsoft.com/express/visualc/default.aspx) given it
is free it could be usable.
