One thing that happened was to make it less attractive to Solaris users - I like a OS installation that does not need to be worked on before it becomes usable. The other thing was to introduce a questionable "local admin" role that is assigned to "the primary user" during install. This is a decision that did never run through ARC and that has no chance to get accepted by me as it introduces security holes. Before giving up a clean design in favor of something else, the new thing needs to be made competive first.
