Hi folks It seems that the printer port on my 8600/300 is damaged. This is not a software problem - the connector itself appears damaged. I can wiggle the printer cable, and it worked for a while - now, it just won't connect the printer. I can use the modem port, or buy a PCI card with extra serial ports, but, if I understand it correctly, my HP 4ML postscript printer requires a printer port and AppleTalk. It doesn't even give a port choice in the Chooser. The PCI serial-port cards specifically say they will not support AppleTalk devices. The repair shop - which specializes in Macs - says that the only way to fix it is by putting in a whole motherboard. (I guess it comes with the I/O strip already connected to it?) This sounds ridiculous to me - a whole motherboard for a single silly Din plug? Any of you had similar experiences? Any suggestions? Thank you for any ideas. Kim
