Kim,
I had the same problem and although it is not a job for the novice, the
solder connections can be repaired if the circuit runs nor the ckt board are
not damaged. I am a micro - miniature specialist and was able to repair
mine. Almost all Apple //'s and Macs use the identical serial connectors. If
it is the connector and not the connection of the connector to the board,
you might be able to do as I did and salvage one from another scrapped
board. Most Apple techs are forced by Admin to opt the remove and replace
board method vice board repair. Specialty repairs are too time consuming and
customers usually consider them too costly as well.
