I can look up the link at Apple in the knowledge base if you want, software RAIDs on UNIX do not boot because the drivers have to be loaded from somewhere, thats just life.
I have installed Mac OS X [client and server 10.2] on RAIDs, they install fine but they do not boot.
I have also checked with Disk Utility and it says all is fine. I have also used Disk Warrior on the boot drive and on the RAID.

Liar... no offense. But my Mac and I are living proof it can be done! I have OS X 10.2.*8*? Well, its 10.2 at least. I set up a RAID with the Mac OEM drive (30GB aprox) and another 30GB Seagate (PC) IDE drives when i was installing X. I just simply went over to RAID and followed directions. I DO NOT HAVE SERVER. On this machine.
As for the RAID problem, I would open disk util and make sure it says that they are a-ok. Go over to RAID tab and make sure it says fully functional. Then maybe some disk utilities, fix permissions? Just guessing here. I'm sure you've done all that already.

I'll repeat, I am proof. Would you like to see a screen shot or something? I can say with the utmost confidence that the article is wrong. I am typing this letter on the G4 with RAID that just booted with RAID. I have two hard drives striped and they boot everyday without a hitch. maybe the driver is in the ROM? I don't know, but it works. This is software RAID, it is not hardware, I did this with the disk util when I originally installed OS X 10.2. Maybe RAID didn't work on previous versions of X? i didn't even get any errors, it just simply worked. Am I supposed to? Maybe i have an odd ball system that allows this?
Power Macintosh G4 AGP

*2* 30GB IDE HD's in a RAID Stripe (RAID 1?) hooked to the motherboard's controller

very strange... Seriously, if Apple says it shouldn't work, why does it? If you find that article send it to me please. Thanks,
