I just have a " feel " for these things after ten years of using obsolete hardware and software.
My guess is that it is a buffering issue. Unless your smaller chips all hide defects which are not evident on superficial inspection.
They are all 2k buffered chips. For the 7x00 series, they work flawlessly. The specs for this one say it can use either 2k or 4k, so I'm thinking that the SCSI/DMA/Transfer rate must have something to do with it.
I'm glad you made some headway. Now you have an idea of how to configure further.
Now I just got to get some 64 MB DIMM's to use. Currently, I have it set up this way, and its working:
A1/B1 - 64 MB DIMM's A2/B2 A3/B3 - 16 MB DIMM's A4/A4 32 MB DIMM's
If I use it in just about any other order, the 32 MB DIMM's cause the SCSI to fail. I also can't put them in A5/B5 or A6/B6 in this configuration without failure. This is so weird.
