... A valuable method even with dynamic memory. and
prioritized multitasking. When I got a 16 MB machine I thought it was huge!
No doubt these Ram Disks have their uses. Since it appears you will use it
for cache management in browsing, do me a favour that no one else has done
for me yet: devise your own test to see if it has any speed advantage in
browsing. My trials, a couple of years back, showed no particular advantage
so worth having in this respect.

For browsing I can't see a speed advantage as I would still be online
by dialup which is the most limiting factor.
What I was referring to before was running graphics programs from a
RAM disk. In which case on a machine with limited RAM in proportion
to the task
and very limited caching space running from RAM disk would eliminate
constant calls to the Hard disk drive.
After the weekend I will try Photoshop from a RAM disk compared to
running from Hd on a series of tasks. Even with the improved Caching
of the Mac and hugely more RAM I expect a speed improvement there.
How hard would it be to write a script to load a setup like this for
future use on a daily basis? I haven't written any Applescript yet
but used to write AREXX scripts.
