Jeff and all, I am glad to say that in my case there was no fault in Zone alarm.
Under the Security/Advanced setting, it
had set a range of IP addresses which (presumably) it took from my ISP as the range
they needed to ping me. That was:
203.12.164.118 / 255.255.255.0. My trouble started when the ISP started pinging me on
203.12.164.15 so I can't see how Zone
Alarm was to blame *unless* it should have somehow picked up that change and allowed
for it. I don't know near enough
about this to comment on the technology, just glad I'm no longer cut off in my prime!
