Hi Glenn..

So where were you when I was talking about buying a computer.. LOL.. Only
kidding. I knew I was going to buy a Gateway, Dell. or HP..(though my sister
was trying to talk me into a compac.. which she got. and I told her, they
were bought by HP) and I didnt' want to go that route..

I wish I were in a position, or had the knowledge. to build one. but I'm
relying strictly on reputation. and while Gateway was the 'way to go 5 years
ago.. when I bought that machine.. Dell "seemed" to have the best prices,
and the best 'reports'. when I checked out ZDNET. and CNET.. So I did my
checking. and I didnt' go for a 'cheapie machine". not the 799.00 advertised
one. I went for almost 2000.00 and bought a good machine.

Could I have done better, having someone build one for me.. Probably YES..
no doubt about that. But I'm a person, who NEEDS that guarantee.. who
believes in warranties.. I have always been that way..

And your totally right.. about the idiots at Dell tech support..but I have
also found a few. that really know what they're doing.. The guy who sent me
the SR Cd's. and now.. this other guy.(David) who's authorized the Dell tech
to come out and install a new hard-drive.. I feel.- that NOW.. maybe I have
finally found someone who will get this computer, into high gear...

If not for this forum. I would be pulling my hair out. Believe me.. The
people on here. are wonderful. They're the most supportive group I've ever
met. and moreso.. They are so experienced.. You ask a question. and the
answer is always there. I don't know what I would've done with all of them..

Yes. it's been a trying time. but I do love my computer, and when it is up
and running to its' full capability.. I know I"ll be very happy with it..

For now. until the new hard drive is installed.. Its fine. cause I can
send/receive my emails. and browse. so thats fine until everything is
fixed.. Once the new hard drive is installed.. Lets just hope that I dont
need tech support.. LOL.. But If I do.. This "David". said I could call him
directly.. and between him. and this other tech. whom I really do feel knows
what he's doing. I hope I"m okay.. Fingers crossed. of course.. LOL
