they are a distant #4 or 5, depending on Olympus sales. Canon forecasts 1.6M DSLRs in the next fiscal year, Nikon 1.4M, Konica-Minolta 250K, and Pentax 120K. if you believe Sony's 3.6M total market size for the next year, that leaves 230K units left over for Olympus and everyone else. these are the official company forecasts by each of the named companies. according to Pentax, they sold 20K DSLRs in the past fiscal quarter.

And now Pentax is the (distant) #3 maker of DSLRs next to N/C.  Management
changed over the years and so did their attitude. They have been for a long
time a closely held family company, which has changed when the new CEO was
