Well, it happens, and apparently with ever increasing frequency. Another one
reported today, the third this week I believe. I received the following from
Jannette Fannell earlier today.

Below is an incident that took place in Michigan yesterday. The 4th this week
and 7th fatality in the U.S.

WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) - A Wyoming toddler is dead after being found in a parked
car.

Police told 24 Hour News 8 they were called to the 1900 block of Martindale
around 5:20 Friday afternoon on a report of an unresponsive 2-year old girl.

The little girl was pronounced dead upon arrival of emergency crews.

Neighbors around the home at 1913 Martindale said they had heard yelling and
screaming from the home for quite some time, but many thought the kids that
lived in the home were just playing.

Gwien Kimmel, who lives next door, went into the home to find out what was
happening. She saw the toddler laying on the living room floor.

"I tried to see if she was breathing," said Kimmel. "I tilted her head back,
tried to do a couple of breathes in."

Kimmel said the girl was hot to the touch, and was vomiting. Her attempts to
perform CPR on her were unsuccessful.

Neighbor Amber Johnson said she didn't know how long the girl had been in the
car.

"The little girl said she was sleeping in the car so her mom left her in there
to take a nap," explained Johnson.

An investigation into the child's death is ongoing with the Wyoming Police
Department. Captain Brad Schutter said an autopsy was scheduled for Saturday
morning.
