Not my experience, I run Dells, IBMs and homebrew systems (based on
top line components)

That's the key: top line components. Too many PCs are not built with good stuff in them. Again, based on my experiences, I'd say that Apple uses better quality components in their machines than the majority of PC makers out there do in theirs.
