Yep. Had a guy (who happens to be an instructor at the local college in
one of the art programs) the other day who decided I had not dodged the
sweater in his neg (a black sweater exposed with no detail) on the print
to his liking. He wanted it even lighter. Fine, a valid complaint, I
would certainly do the print again with no hesitation. Unfortunately,
he was belligerent from the get-go, calling me stupid and unskilled and
saying things like "I asked you to DODGE it, you know what DODGING is,
right?" I explained to him that when he told me he needed the print for
Wednesday, the reason I told him to come in on Monday was so that I'd
have two days to correct anything that he didn't like in the print,
because I am not psychic and can only attempt to visualize what he wants
from his description. Had he said from the outset that he didn't care
how unrealistic it looked and that he wanted the black sweater to be
lighter than the pale skin of the subject and to vanish into the
background, well, I would have been able to nail it pretty easily. But
instead, he simply told me to lighten it "a bit".

I told him that I would complete the job, and that he could have it on
Tuesday night, and that I'd ask him to not come in ever again. To this
he shouted that he was going to tell the owner that I was turning away
business, and I snapped back, "Who do you think you're talking to now?"

When another instructor from his program called to enquire if I was
going to offer the same prize this year for their awards night that I
had the year before, I advised them of their colleagues' behavior, and
then told them I'd never punish the students for an instructor's bad
behavior, but it had really pissed me off. Apparently this guy is just
belligerent day-to-day, and I had just been treated like one of his
students. Great, another advantage of lookin' young.

The joys of retail.
