So far all I've done was install DVD::Rip using Automatix, then clicked
a few buttons and the job was done!

To be fair the results weren't great - dropped frames and poor audio
sync, but that could have been at playback not at rip, and it could be
easy to tweak, I just haven't looked at it yet.

On Windows, FairUseWizard is pretty good, and in the past I've got that
to run fine under Wine.
