Often at Alioth, teams have one list for general development discussions (also being used for the Maintainer: field in packages), and a separate one for VCS commits - which most but (as is clear here) not all would then subscribe to as well.
I like this split. But as mentioned recently already, I am relatively new here, so perhaps there are sane reasons for not doing this too?
