I had the same problem with my T415, except along with the beeps I saw
a 'snow' effect. Once everything was 'working' again, I ended up with
a device that would reset itself each time I powered it off. Thusly,
it would reset after every 2 minutes of inactivity :)

OK, so if the jogdial issue is fixed, (for now).. atleast it sounds
like it isn't a software problem, but a hardware problem.

If it does get to a point where it can be reproduced consistently, try
running the same steps in the palmos emulator. If you can reproduce
them there, then we may have a software issue.
