There *is* "proper version management with the preferences file", but it will be used only for released versions. There is no way you can avoid problems when users run a stable version one day, the next day they upgrade to a beta version, and then the day after they downgrade to a hires-alpha... > Adding it in would be helpful It's already included and when/if the preference "version" is changed you will lose all your current preferences.
