I think the problem which Albertus, Armin, and you are all describing are directly related to the preferences. I think part of the reason why its cropping up now is becuase there is no proper version management with the preferences file, like how there is for the metafiles, plkrdoclist, etc. Adding it in would be helpful, I think. Except there would be one small problem: Each time you run an upgrade of plucker, you run the risk of loosing your entire preferences alltogether. Unless the code is developed in such a way that it's extremly anal about each seperate value being where it should be, there may be no way around this. Obviously, something needs to be done though.
