Well, benchmarks can only mean so much to some people. I've tried using 
Win9x and Photoshop on a 1.4GHz system with an ECS motherboard that had 
2 SDR SDRAM slots and 2 DDR SDRAM slots. Testing using only 1 kind of 
RAM didn't really reflect too wide a "real world" performance gain when 
it came to the usual tests (filters, files, etc) because it was 
definitely a fast system, but benchmarks show the "truth" (if you can 
call it that) and the numbers did vary.

I guess under the hood there is a significant performance gain -- but I 
certainly didn't notice it because I limited myself to the common stuff. 
Maybe when it comes to web serving, database serving, and the like it'd 
matter.
