1.4 was the first version supporting DASH so asking "is DASH version any
more future proof than 1.4." means I haven't explained the situation
properly but I did say

Ongoing development is only with 1.5.* (e.g. 1.5.4 with Flac support and
Segment info)  - I am not doing any support for 1.4.*.  IMHO 1.5.* works
better than 1.4.* but some users don't like to update working systems.
