If changing the threshold doesn't affect the delay - it is possible the
delay is not within SBS but say within Windows audio driver.

To check SBS threshold handling.
1. Stop any streams playings
2. in SBS WebUI/Settings/Advanced/Logging set player.source to INFO and
click Apply.
3. Try to use WaveInput and start playing the stream.
4. After you get come audio - stop the stream.
5. Check the log file - look for messages like the following

Code:
--------------------

  11-04-28 14:49:08.8490] Slim::Player::Player::_buffering (1174) Buffering...
0 / 261120
  [11-04-28 14:49:09.1498] Slim::Player::Player::_buffering (1174) Buffering...
48640 / 261120
  [11-04-28 14:49:09.4507] Slim::Player::Player::_buffering (1174) Buffering...
85504 / 261120
  [11-04-28 14:49:09.7517] Slim::Player::Player::_buffering (1174) Buffering...
114176 / 261120
  [11-04-28 14:49:10.0528] Slim::Player::Player::_buffering (1174) Buffering...
159232 / 261120
  [11-04-28 14:49:10.3537] Slim::Player::Player::_buffering (1174) Buffering...
192000 / 261120

--------------------

This message says how much data has been received from source (in
WaveInput this is wavin2cmd) and the second number of the threshold in
bytes - once the threshold has been exceeded then playing will begin.
