Thanks. My Radio Station Buffer Seconds was set to the minimum of 3. The streaming service I am using claims to be delivering 256kbps. I can't see how the delay could have got as high as a minute with this setting unless the calculations are incorrect somewhere. (I didn't believe it either by the way but it really was happening - switch the service off and wait for a minute to finish listening - that's a big buffer somewhere). In my case I thought it wasn't working at all, and you may find others reporting that it doesn't work at all when it does, albeit slowly However, I've very happy there was a fix.
