Airplane mode turns off everything including wifi. It seems when any of the networking is on, the noise returns. And, for what it's worth, I'll retract pointing at just iPeng. When I tested the Airplane mode, I heard the noise before I even restarted iPeng. It just seems to occur much more frequently with iPeng - perhaps related to the network load of music streaming?
