I'm still not producing consistently sharply-focussed results on the S2, though it's easier with a 105 Micro than with the 35-70/2.8 or 24mm, perhaps because of this lens's higher contrast.
If, has been suggested, some of the early Fuji S2s were constructed with the IR filter rather than the chip in the focus plane, then focusing problems would be more pronounced with shorter focal lengths.

The greater travel in the focusing of a 105mm would mean the difference in distance between mirror/focusing screen and mirror/chip would be relatively less important.

I'm surprised Fuji UK remain so silent on this issue. Perhaps it's because there have been so few available here until now. Of course if people start to return their cameras to the dealers in droves the dealers would have to put pressure on Fuji to do something about it - judging by mail on the US dominated lists, Fuji USA have been very accommodating on returns and swapouts.

I'm convinced mine wasn't built to Fuji's spec - it focuses just fine!
