The reason I am pissing about photographing walls like this is precisely because I HAVE seem this band in regular shooting situations, and am trying to work out what is going on. Any time there is a deep shadow in bad light it is there. I did some interiors with dark blue walls the other day and the stripe appeared as band of shifted colour (it was redder).
I share your delight at the flexibility of shooting in RAW, and I am not a 'tester' by nature and would rather be doing other things, but I need to sort this out, whilst the guarantee is still effective.
