Hi David

I used your "test" on my 1DS and got a similar result - a kind of large
criss-cross pattern of uneven noise in red and yellow.

But I don't think I regard it as a fault. It's invisible in normal use, and
I think that applying a drastic saturation boost just a way of exaggerating
the noise that's normally present in the images.

It makes scans look like crap too.

Hi Colin

The consensus seems to be that my camera has a fault. If you had it too the test shot would look awful, i am not looking for a problem, just confirming it, it really looks bad.

I think what you are seeing is not the same as what I am seeing. I can send a sample if you want reassurance that this is a problem and yours is OK.

I will take it back to Canon and report back to the list on what has happened.

all the best

David
