Hi I don't expect that most people will make their Mac/PC buying decisions on the few percentage points difference in supposed 'performance tests' Sure it's something for Apple's marketing dept to get into and it's nice to see Macs that are 'up there' again. I suspect that the people who worry over the -exact- percentage differences are those who can also tell you the THD of their amplifiers and the exact 0-60 time of their car :-)) :-))
If I'd just gone on 'speed' I'd have got a fast PC for my photography work a while ago. Most people who I know who have changed platform, have done so for much more 'fuzzy' reasons. Sure, I also 'look after' Macs for people (I do not actually sell hardware/software) and so have an interest in more people using them, but it comes from a personal choice. As a friend (who works for Microsoft) said ..."You bloody arty Mac people" I'm particularly looking forward to a 64 bit version of Photoshop, running on multiple G5s -- perhaps the move to 64 bit will allow them to offer layers in 16 bit ;-)) bye for now Keith Cooper Northlight Images http://northlight-images.co.uk Photography - Digital Imaging - Apple Mac Consultancy Tel +44 (0)116 291 9092 Mobile +44 (0)780 162 9397 =============================================================== GO TO http://www.prodig.org for ~ GUIDELINES ~ un/SUBSCRIBING ~ ITEMS for SALE
