....... The scan multi pro is supposed to knock the socks off
> the nikon 8000 ..........

Dear Ian,
Because of the much discussed 'focus issue' with the Nikon scanner I was
ready to change to the Minolta Multi Pro.
I had both running alongside each other for a few weeks and tested them very
thoroughly. While there were some things I liked about the Minolta, I can
state categorically that the Nikon was superior in colour and tonality, with
less noise/artefacts, and gave a truer and more natural'look' which I much
preferred.
I was running Nikon Scan with the Nikon and Minoltas' software with the
Minolta.
The glass film holder still produced some Newton rings, just as the Nikon
one had done and as far as I can remember the depth of field issues were
very similar. However, I am now more used to working around this focus
problem and have never had a scan rejected by any client, fellow
photographer or stock library.
I am very tempted to try the 5400 though, seems a bargain :)
Cheers,
Mark.
