Just catching up on what the world says about the G5 now the initial dust has settled. I'll wait till barefeats have tested it against a selection of fast PC's before I make a judgement. They seem to have the most rational and sensible testing methods.
Anyway, while browsing barefeats, there was a link to a PC site, overclockers (boy does this guy hate macs!) http://www.overclockers.com/tips00408/ and there is a long article slagging off Apple's G5 and its testing methods as many others have also done. But the funniest thing for me (a photographer who uses Photoshop) was this paragraph near the end. It made me laugh anyway. quote - It could well be that the G5 does do some things better than an equivalent x86 machine, for instance, Photoshop has always liked the Mac a lot, but when you find dirt in every spot where you can look, it's hard to expect things to be spanking clean in the places where they won't let you look end quote - So it may not be the fastest processor on earth, it may not play Quake the fastest or do whatever else fastest. But apparently even a complete mac hater, has to admit, that it runs Photoshop faster. That's all I needed to hear :-) Paul PS - Not trying to start any kind of PC/Mac thing. Its just that us poor mac guys have been lagging behind somewhat this year and the G5 finally looks like it might get us back level again. So we won't have to change platform, simply because the hardware is slower.
