I think there are restore options in the installer, as there were in the OS
9 installer. But I'm pretty sure you can't just grab and drag the system
folder to a HDD. However, you can always install a second version on another
HDD, I suppose, and choose at boot time which one you want to run. Not sure
how you would boot into it though if your primary one went bellyup. The only
way I know is from a booted system and then choosing Startup Disk in
Sysprefs. You could, I suppose, boot into OS 9 with from your CD and then
choose another disk and restart. If there's another way, maybe someone else
can fill in that gap?

Only needed if you turn your Mac off. It's not always practical to leave
pBooks or iBooks on 24/7/4/52.
