You only have a contract with your supplier Dabs, not with LaCie.
The warrantee is also valid through Dabs and not direct from the manufacturer.
I have always found it useful to deal with suppliers with some kind of technical dept. to answer queries. Jigsaw changed a LaCie burner without question after seven months. They also changed as DOA an HP printer even though it took me over a month to open the box and turn it on. They have also replaced small items without any problems or the formality of me returning the item for inspection.
