Bob Then why do you expect Photoshop to do as good a job as C1? <g> C1 costs 299 and you can't edit images with it. You can pick up Photoshop for 325 approx - but it does hell of a lot more than C1. Personally, I wouldn't expect Photoshop to process raw files as well as a programme dedicated to processing raw files only or masking only. You pay your money, as they say. > C1 doesn't try to be a PS substitute. In my view PS tries to be a C1 > substitute but not very well. I don't buy that for a minute. Photoshop is an image editing software. Adobe have added the ability to process camera raw files. For a lot of people, that is very handy and it produces brilliant results without an extra investment. And a good majority of those people who are deliriously happy haven't even explored the settings in their entirety! Photoshop also handles type but I don't expect it to handle it as well as, say, QuarkExpress or InDesign. It also supports vector objects but I don't expect it to support that as well as, say, Freehand or Illustrator. It also outputs PDFs but I don't expect it to output them as well as, say, Acrobat. It also outputs HTML but I don't expect it to do that as well as, say, Dreamweaver or GoLive. It also... I've heard this comparative argument many times but it's never stood up. It reminds me of George Harrison saying Paul McCartney wasn't a good guitarist but forgetting that, though he was a good guitarist himself, he wasn't that brilliant a song writer - or drummer, or bassist, or piano player, or singer, or producer, nor could he write oratorios or symphonies! If you are going to compare, compare like for like or praise something for itself. That's all...
