Dear William and Shangara

Thanks for the responses. I will try the background processing ON for a while to see if it slows things down. I hadn't seen it before. The Export Cache took five hours to run last night and I couldn't use PS while it was running.

Thanks

Bob

Bob,

Background processing can be turned on and off in the FB prefs (Edit menu), I keep it off as it seems to slow other things down. Your reference to moving files between disks makes me wonder if 'Export Cache' (File menu) is what you're after, from the PS help file:

'The cache stores thumbnail and file information to make loading times quicker when you return to a previously viewed folder. However, storing cache takes up disk space. You can purge the cache to free up room on your hard disk drive.

You can also export the cache. Exporting the cache allows you to burn a CD with the cache already generated.'

William Davies.
