Mike Not sure of the science as it's not that widely publicised. Somehow, Thomas Knoll somehow managed to create the profiles for the different cameras, as well as the interpolation methods used. He tweaked them for Camera Raw II (the one that ships with Photoshop CS). When talking of non-square pixels, I have read that the Nikon D1x uses non-square pixels.
