Dear Bob, and why don't you give a serious thought at iView or equivalent? I have found that the more things you want to do with one application, the less effective it becomes for almost all of those tasks. Just keep PS as the editing program and choose a cataloguing program to rename, move and/or copy files to and from everywhere you want. Iview does a wonderful job at that, and once you have sorted out , copied, backed up , moved and captioned your files, then you proceed to individually or batch-process your files in the proper apps( C1 and PS to name those that you already use). If PS requires of a formal update, I would strongly include the suggestion to move out the Browser, and make it into an individual app, as they did with Image Ready in v7 for web things. That was smart! The browser performs only Finder operations, you could even keep the Get Info menu to register metadata, captions etc within the browser as we do now, but why in heaven does it all have to be inside PS? BTW, just as a reminder, you can open any file from iView via direct linking to your apps of choice. Make iView your Image Browser , adjust you choices as to have the option of opening your RAW files in either PS, C1 or both and forget about having your machine compromised by slow and unjustified Cache operations. Best.
