I think the use of 'just another inkjet process' slightly misses the point. I used to work with quality fibre based papers to produce my portrait work in a wet darkroom. However, using a properly profiled ink jet, printing onto a quality stock such as Hahnemulle Photo Rag and using good ink sets now allows me to create prints which are different to my Ilford Gallerie prints, but of an equally high quality. I'm still learning the digital side of things, after 20 years shooting film. However, I've seen some prints produced by the likes of Jack Lowe which are absolutely stunning and certainly stand comparison with good quality fibre based 'wet' prints. Again, a different look, but still superb quality. As your post said, horses for courses, but please don't dismiss the Gicl�e process out of hand. It really can give stunning results.
