Matt, I changed to digital last year and like you I was dragged kicking and screaming to digital. I mainly do press, PR and editorial work and increasingly my clients were asking for digital files which meant hours spent scanning using a film scanner. I used to use all Nikon gear and naturally started looking at what Nikon had to offer but the more I looked at their stuff the less impressed I was. I also looked at the Kodak 14n and thank god I didn't buy that. In the end I decided to check out the Canon 1Ds. The more I read about it the more confident I was that that was the camera to go for but the price, especially changing the whole kit from Nikon to Canon...... ouch! Anyway I decided to bite the bullet and spent a lot of money on the 1Ds, lenses etc, the whole kit. Any regrets? None whatsoever. The camera does everything my film camera did and more. And not only that but delivers consistently smooth high quality images, even for weddings including white dresses (I shot a wedding last Saturday). The flash is beautifully balanced with tweaking only ever required for creativity. But having said all that if you are happy shooting film and have a good system and are happy with the results from your lab then really why do you need to change to digital. For what it's worth, in my opinion I don't think that just because everyone else shoots digital and tells you to do the same is good enough reason to change. Only change if it will make doing weddings easier or help you in some other way.
