No doubt this is just ideal to submit images online, via ftp or whatever.
Fast, efficent and if on a first opening the jpg  file is saved as TIFF and
then the workflow goes on in Tiff, little or no problems should happen.

My questioning about this is the archival , long term storage quality of
jpegs, but agree that for transmission, it is the ideal format.
