Hi

As well as keeping that old machine for OS compatibility, it's also worth
keeping one with an old (x2 or x4) CD drive.

I've saved several peoples' files with a particular Apple drive I put into
an old machine (7600 8.6). It also works well with a slow external laCie
SCSI CD writer, which has no trouble with CDRs that my newer machines don't
like.

Whilst I also keep a working Apple Portable (sys 6.0.8) I suspect it is not
for any particular backup strategy :-)

bye for now
