Maybe it's semantics but I think that extremism in and of itself is not bad; it
is fanaticism that is bad. And it's not just religious fanaticism, it's any
discipline ... politics for example.

John Adams was an extremist. He was absolutely unshakable in his ideas for
freedom from the King of England. But he wasn't a fanatic. He understood that
unless everyone was free, no one would be free (including the slaves). So he
compromised and took the best deal he could get to advance his cause without
jeopardizing everything else.

Our current President is an extremist. I am not sure what his goal is but I
know his mind cannot be changed about attaining that goal. Unfortunately, he
is also a fanatic. He does not care what anyone else thinks and he is
oblivious to the costs and consequences of his actions. In being a fanatic, he
is being counterproductive to his extremist goal because he is alienating
people who may agree with his end result but not with his means to that end.

Just as an aside, I still believe that Shrub is a puppet for the likes of
Cheney's Crew. Shrub may be a good ole boy way down, but someone is pulling
his strings and until the issue of who that gets resolved, I have no choice but
to pin the "blame" on Papa George's Boy Blunder.
