" could affect your work performance while at your employers, which
therefore becomes their concern". I have worked for companies that felt this
way, and I see a lot of this sort of thinking, and it always bothers me.
Some quick examples:

My cat decides to meow at me all night, waking me up throughout the night. I
show up to work tired and have cat footprints on my forehead. Does my
employer get to insist I keep the bedroom door shut?

After work I like to go home and enjoy a nice steak, all hot and tasty off
the grill. Yum! My employers' insurance company decides that mandatory
cholesterol screenings would be a good idea, as healthy employees are lower
cost to the insurance company. They see my numbers and now I'm under the at
least implied threat of losing my job unless I submit to their ideas of
healthy eating. Why? Because now my personal habits have become a potential
financial liability.

... to empower employers with this sort of authority over private aspects of
your life is never a good choice, as your employer will rightly base their
policies over what is best for their business interests. To voluntarily give
up your free will is foolish, to accept the loss of your free will as a
condition of employment is akin to volunteering to be a slave. No thanks!

Strike #2: Drug testing is just wrong on so many levels. What I do on my
personal time is no business to my potential employer. Judge me on my
abilities and past performance. Fire me if I suck. But if I like to burn one
down before watching Battlestar Galactica or Pushing Daisies why should you
care?

Your employer cares if you are doing drugs because what you do on your own
time, which is none of their business, could affect your work performance
while at your employers, which therefore becomes their concern. BTW eating
poppyseeds will not allow you to pass the drug test, the only way is to
either be clean, use clean urine, or flush the drugs out of the system.

Strike #1: MS Word format. Why do you care what *format* my resume is in. If
you are going to pick a format, why not PDF or plain text?

Is Phoenix paradise? If so, I need to visit! :)

Only 3 years for a senior position? I've seen my code from being a
3-year FoxPro veteran, and it isn't pretty!

Really funny and kind of ironic: the bullet points are showing up in my
email (Thunderbird on Mac) as the Apple Inc. logo.

I'd rather do some more bong hits. :) Then again, tell me what the pay
range is and maybe I'd move to paradise for 6 months, and eat some
poppyseed muffins before the interview.

:)
