Obviously this is much more prevalent in the US where there is more private
medical cover and I would guess is this that makes companies add
stipulations that they no doubt would sooner ignore organising.

I guess the thing is that if you want Medical cover then you have to go
along with the requirements for the medical cover.

When I applied for private cover here I had to have a full medical (I had
cancer in my early 20s) and they reserve the right to require more. I
thought this was just sensible on their part.  I also answered questions on
drinking/drugs etc. which I think are fair as they are effectively insuring
my illness.

However, in the UK the data laws prevent the company knowing any of the
medical details...
