This is pure conjecture, but I have a feeling they got DXP out the door to meet a business requirement, not an engineering requirement. (Hey, if us engineers were in control, we'd probably never ship anything due to feature creep and trying to perfect things, so I can see the money side of those decisions.
I would guess they Protel is very active right now at getting out the first service pack ASAP. I bet they timed when the first SP would be released to the time people had the CD in their hands and had a list of complaints about this wide <--------------------------> -----Original Message----- From: Tim Hutcheson [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, August 09, 2002 1:42 PM To: Tim Hutcheson; Protel EDA Forum Subject: Re: [PEDA] DXP: Unable to set secondary step Value in Parameter Sweep Additional note: Problem is related to the fact that the "Sheets to Netlist" was set to "Active project" for the project when I started DSP. When I switch to "Active sheet", which is what I meant to simulate, the signals in the "Available Signals" list do not change to reflect the active sheet but remain as they were. However, if I run the simulation anyway, the simulation runs fine, absent the changes I would have made if I could pick correct signals. When the simulation finishes the Active signals are correctly displaying the signals of the active sheet and I can setup the desired Parameter Sweep selections. Hope that clears up my last post. More bad news though: When I tried to do a Secondary sweep with a negative step, it flashed a message that looked like it might have been the previously mentioned error message about using positive step instead and promptly locked up the program. Had to kill it with task manager. Ouch! Hope my upgrade that I just ordered is a different version than the demo!!!!! regards, Tim Hutcheson Research Associate Institute for Human and Machine Cognition University of West Florida 40 S. I'm looking at the lists now and the schematic. I have a resistive element called Rtactor which is part of the load and it doesn't appear in the list but another resistor called Rlim does. Setup is "Collect Data For Active Signals", Sheets to Nelist Activeis "Active sheet", SimView Setup "Show Active Signals". Hard to pick them for Parameter Sweep when they aren't in the drop-down pick list! Solution: Run the simulation once and then come back to the dialog - All the signals are now there! So there is an initialization problem - if you change anything in the shcematic that changes signal names, you have to remember to run the sim once to flush the signal names through, then setup the sweep again. SoWorks fine with 99SE though. regards, Tim Hutcheson Research Associate Institute for Human and Machine Cognition University of West Florida 40 S. Can you give us some hints ?
