Hi Bob,

Yes I was talking about 4-way connections and I do agree that it is a bad
design practice. But that doesn't prevent people from using them anyway.
An unsuspecting user bringing a design into DXP can be in for a nasty
surprise if they are not aware of how DXP will change their design without
their knowledge. I have some clients who place 4-ways from time to time and
I do clean them up if I find them. If I happen to receive some schematics
from someone working in P99SE (which does allow these types of junctions by
the way), and open them in DXP, the junctions will be gone before I can even
find them to clean them up. I think DXP should change them to manual
junctions rather than just deleting them thus changing the design intention.
I am truly grateful for the new wire rebuilding feature of DXP as it should
eliminate multiple wire segments hiding in a schematic. Hopefully, a new
service pack will treat these types of junctions differently regardless of
how bad a design practice they are. If there is no change to DXP in this
area, then people need to be aware that it exists and turn of the
appropriate option in DXP "Optimize Wires and Buses" that rebuilds wires
when bringing in suspect designs from P99SE until these 4 way junctions can
be found and changed.

Rob
