Several people have asked, so without asking why they're
still running TWL98 Maven, I'll paste in some details on
getting older programs to run better under WinXP. I hope
this helps some folks.

running Maven under Windows XP --

1. locate the file 'MavenTWL.exe' in Windows Explorer

2. right-click the file
click Properties, then click Compatibility tab

3. CHECK 'run in compatibility mode'
   select 'Windows98' or 'Windows2000'

The 2000 setting seems to allow better formatting
of lists generated by Stuff | Word List -- allows
wrapping so all the words appear in the dialog,
not strung out on one line & mostly invisible. My
thanks to Butch Istook for teaching me that trick.

Experiment on your own machine to see what's best.

4. do NOT check '256'
   do NOT check '640x480'
   CHECK 'disable visual themes'
CHECK 'turn off advanced text services'

5. click Apply and save the settings

For more details, click 'learn more about compatibility'
and read 'getting older programs to run under XP'
