Dear Spirit Rider,

I've noticed two things in these disscussions, we commanders have been
having regarding the RR uniforms, and that is the comparison with the Boy
Scouts and the comparison with the military. Either one (or both) of these
issue come up when we disscuss the Ranger uniforms. Why? Because when the
Royal Ranger uniform was designed it had some inspiration from the Boy Scout
uniform and some inspiration from military uniforms as well. For example
the current merit pins, Class B ribbons, the medals, the name tag, the
commander bars, etc. have a military influence, while the patches, Buckaroo
Neckerchief, Straight Arrows vest, are inspired by the Boy Scouts. In fact
in my opinion if you took away the patches from the Khaki uniforms they
would look like a military uniform. This is my observation anyway.
