I was interested in reading that in the former Soviet Union the
guns used in crime where often dug up from WW2 battlefields and
made useible in many forms...
Today in Iraq the population is loaded with firearms, and in the middle
east and Isreal open carry is prudent.
In the USA... The importation of surplus guns has been big business
for decades! *Legal of course.. and while from time to time *I see
holsted handguns in public.. (Washington is a open carry legal state)
more and more concealed gun permits are being issued.
In the Vietnam War we had "gun control" and you might be surprised that
most US military personell were unarmed while on liberty. The fact of
all US Gun ownership is that it isn't a problem untill someone breaks
the peace and crosses up current law with the use of firearms.
Victor is strikeing a valid point in the doctrine of conscious objection.
I've shared that my Dad filed a CO status when drafted to the US Army
in WW2 on religious objection to armed service. He was asked if he
could serve as a medic.. *Yes he said. "Then can you also protect the
life of the wounded, if called upon in combat?"
*His answer was *yes... in defence of another if needed, in the EXTREAM!
This moral stance was on my mind during the entire Vietnam conflict.
*I did not share the same religious conviction, I felt released to
serve my country as a armed volenteer, and to do my duty as required.
*How does that effect my Religion... can a Christian be armed?
*Yes! Your "salvation" is not dependent on such questions..
your salvation is not won by any deed or lifestyle choice, but by
accepting the offer made possible by Christ's death on the cross.
If by that action we are forgiven... we remain forgiven untill
Christ judges us unworthy of his grace.
