This is taken from an information booklet I received at National Training
Camp:
"PURPOSE: To give leaders opportunity for: training in camp skills,
leadership
development, outstanding fellowship, and adventure in the out-of-doors, a
new
vision of the great potential of the Royal Rangers ministry, ideas for
teaching and
administration, more involvement in service, analyzing personal strengths
and
weakness sensitometer tips, and 'seeing the program from a boy's
viewpoint'."
The camp functioned as a large outpost. It was divided into eight
patrols. The postions
of guide and asst guide rotated everyday. We were the boys and the Staff
were the
commanders. Again, it was from a boy's viewpoint. After being taught,
we did almost
everything on our own.
NTC/ANTC gives us the tools/knowledge to 'guide' the boys into leading
themselves.
That is with supervision.
If you haven't been to the National Training Camp, I recommend you go.
You'll get a
totally different perspective on the outpost and patrol system. In
addition, like we had
at NTC '99 in Maryland, you may experience revival.
